In some cases you may wish to have a page automatically re-direct to a different page or external URL. This is useful if you want to have a link in your menu to a .PDF, external website, etc. An example of this on your current website is all of the top-level menu items. ‘Our School’, ‘News & Events’, ‘Library & Resources’, etc, all act as links that redirect to a different page. In most cases, ‘Our School’ links to ‘About Us’, which is it’s first menu item.
Important: All top-level menu items (‘Our School’, ‘News & Events’, etc.) must redirect to the first page in it’s menu. For example, ‘Our School’ must link to ‘About Us’ because it is the first item in the ‘Our School’ menu. If you change the order of the pages in one of these top-level item’s menu, you must update the top-level menu item to link to the first item in it’s menu.

1.) Edit the Page you wish to use as a link and scroll down to the ‘Page Links To’ section.
3.) Click the ‘Alternative URL’ radio button(fig. 1) and then enter the target URL in the text field (fig. 2).
4.) If you want the browser to open this link in a new window, select the check-box to the left of ‘Open this link in a new window” (fig. 3).
5.) Once you are finished, click the ‘Publish’ button at apply your changes.
Note: If you are linking to an internal page—a page that is part of your school website—it is not necessary to include the full URL. Example: /our-school/about-us instead of http://yourschool.sd61.bc.ca/our-school/about-us
